Bit of an update on BlackJack, my Tundra wolf. He's still taking some time off the road and spending several weeks at home. On one hand, he's loved it, because he has his dog- and cat-buddies (okay...so only one cat buddy, but he keeps trying to change it to both), but he didn't like me not being there. He was okay the first two weeks then changed into some version of The Evil Wolfy Twin for about three weeks (after my 2d 'return and departure'). My roommate was about driven up the wall from his misdeeds. He's straightened out quite a bit from then to now, though, much to my roomie's relief!

Holy moly, is he big! His breed stats on this site read "...22 inches tall" and "75 pounds," and "males are larger than females."

...Um... Not exactly, not exactly, and oh, yeah, I'll say!

He's only 9-1/2 months old now, and he's 26-1/2 inches at the shoulder (and he's *still* not caught up to his paws yet!), and weighs in around 83 pounds.

Did I mention he's getting really big? lol...He's outgrown two kennel cages already, and I'm not sure the pet store has one big enough in stock right now!

Whoever first said, "He's a growin' boy" had noooooooo idea....(sigh).

Happy Holidays, everyone.

I sent a email about wolf named Dakota here in Minnesota that was taken away from her/him owner; because in Mn. you cannot have a 100% wolf. She was originally posted as a artic wolf on craigslist....then, wcco ran a short story about what they were going to do with her. Wolf compound in Ely could not take Dakota as thier pack was already establish and fearful of Dakota getting killed. Most of Mn Wolves are Timber wolves. Any way I did send a email objecting to her/him being put done. Dakota had committed not crime other then being misused as the novelty of her being a Alaskan Artic Wolf (so they say). I saw pictures, I personally thought she was a White Germam Shepherd cross; however, a vet had claimed differently. The good news to end the suspence, Dakota is under protection of MN Wolf Management and they are going to make every effort to find a home or wolf pack that he/she will be introduced too. I would like to think that there were many other protest. I would like to get a hold of the originally owner of Dakota ask him what he was thinking, no sense of responsibility, no committment, no long range planning and someone that needs to have a laboratory perform.

I am not trying to confuse you folks; however, just this past weekend, a fellow who rescued a bulldog from animal shelter eight months ago was viciously attacked. The dog sever the ear and ripped the face; his wife heard thumping and growling went down and restrained the bull dog. He will be put to sleep. I was just astounded because these are short squat dogs. The point of all of this is a dog, canine, canus lupus, wolf dog it is all in how you take care of them from day one. I had Joe as a child and he was our bud.

I have a 21/2 year old shewolf that I found in the hills of Arizona up in the Wallipie's. She was injured when I found her and appx 3 months old. Roxie I assume is a full no mix Mexican Gray Wolf. I have exposed her to everything and she is no longer timid or shy. Roxie is very intellegent and she is the love of my life. She has not been spayed as I was told possibly wait until the age of 3 or 4.
She eats dry bison, can food, also raw chicken once a day. Well she does like a treat during the day a few times a week. I love your site I just happen to stumble across it searching through some pictures. I would like to send you a picture of Roxie if I can figure out how. Thanks and your wolves look great, healthy, and happy.

I am very interested in getting a wolf pup for a family pet. I want an animal that will be protective of me and my three year old son and have always thought wolves are the most beautiful creatures God created.
